「蛙の子は蛙」の意味

意味	子供の能力や性質は親に似るというたとえ。凡人の子は、結局、凡人になるという意味もある。
英訳	A frog’s child is a frog. = A metaphor that a child’s abilities and characteristics resemble those of its parents. It also means that the child of an ordinary person will eventually become an ordinary person.

自身の謙遜として 用いることが多い。

目上の人に対してや、褒め言葉として使うことはない。

由来

蛙の子供はおたまじゃくしの形をしていて、親の蛙とは全然似ていないけれど、やがて成長すると、親と同じ蛙の形になるということから生まれた。

This proverb was born from the fact that frog children are tadpole-shaped and do not resemble their parent frogs at all, but when they eventually grow up, they take on the same frog shape as their parents.
