日文：

～しようと思わない

強い否定の意志を表す。そのため、主語は１人称となる。

V（普） + まい

田中さんを飲み会に誘っても、いつも断られる。もう二度と彼を誘うまい。

Whenever I invite Mr. Tanaka out for a drink, he always refuses. I’ll never

invite him again.

タバコの吸いすぎで重い病気になるなんて・・・、もう絶対吸うまい。

I can’t believe I’m getting sick from smoking too much… I’ll never smoke

again.

信用していた親友が僕の秘密をもらした。絶対に許すまい。

My best friend, whom I trusted, revealed a secret about me. I will never

forgive him.

どんなに悲しいことがあっても、人前では泣くまいと決めている。

No matter how sad I am, I will never cry in front of others.

料金は高いし、サービスは最悪だし、もう二度とあんな店に行くまい。

I’ll never go back to that restaurant again, the prices are too high and the

service is terrible.

話者の推量を表す。古い言い方で書き言葉的。

推量なので、第３人称も主語として使用可。

V（普） + まいイAく + あるまいナAでは + あるまいNでは + あるまい

熱が徐々に下がり始めたので、心配しすぎる必要はあるまい。

The fever has started to go down slowly, so there’s no need to worry too much.

私はさっき幽霊を見たが、誰も信じまい。

I saw a ghost a while ago, but no one believes me.

末期癌の父に対してできる限りのことをしたが、深刻な状況でこれ以上の回復は見込めまいとのことだ。
